The World Forum Foundation made a commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative to connect two million young children with nature in the next two years. In order to attain this goal, the World Forum Foundation secured a grant from the IBM Global Work/Life Fund to create an online Connecting Children with Nature Environmental Action Kit, and then contracted with Dimensions Educational Research Foundation to develop the Kit. In conducting research for the Kit, the Dimensions staff worked with dozens of environmental and early childhood organizations to identify and evaluate existing resources. After collecting the best of existing resources, Dimensions identified and filled gaps in resources.
It is the goal of everyone involved in this project that the Kit, which contains hundreds of guides, tools, and other resources for parents and professionals, will serve as a helpful and important resource to people all over the world who wish to re-connect our children with the wonders of nature. It is available to all ExchangeEveryDay readers free of charge. All we ask is that you share it widely and give us feedback on how it met your needs.

How do I get this DVD? and kit?
We are doing an earth day event with Fairfax County Park Authority at the Park Site where my preschool and camps are located.
We could use it then and with our students and campers.
I would like to have 12 copies for our summer sites and lead program coordinators.

We apologize for the technical difficulties. We have created new versions of the toolkits that will be easier to download. Here's the direct link: http://www.worldforumfoundation.org/wf/nacc/ibm/edu_fam.php
If you encounter any technical difficulties or have any questions, send an email to [email protected]. Thanks!

I applaud the World Forum efforts to get this information out and the attempt to make it accessible to everyone. I agree with some of the above comments about accessing the information, but even if you can you must have a colored ink printer and it uses a huge amount of ink. The real pictures are great, but really only used for a master. I am printing and will copy for my teachers as we do not have internet for all classrooms even in the United states.
Other good sources for nature/environmental information are: Project Literacy Tree and Project WILD. I am not sure if they are available outside of the USA, but we will be using those free curriculums along with this information.
Thank you for the materials you have put together!

I have also had problems accessing the resource which looks fabulous. I would love to have 12 copies, one for each of our child care centres. I would be happy to have them send by mail if possible. Thankyou

There seem to be technical problems with these online materials - they seem to be too large or something because I am not able to download at any of the links provided. The authors of this curriculum need to think about accessibility for those of us in the U.S. and elsewhere who lack the high-speed internet access that some countries take for granted.
