ECE Wages Rising ... Slowly
September 11, 2007
Differences are not intended to separate, to alienate. We are different precisely in order to realize our need of one another.
-Desmond Tutu
On the Exchange web site we are currently conducting an Exchange Insta-Poll on early childhood wages in North America. In comparing results to date with the results of the same survey we conducted by Exchange in April 2004, it appears that wages are rising ... but very slowly. In three and one half years, wage increases have averaged for…
  • directors of single centers = 10.6%
  • lead teachers = 8.1%
  • teacher aides = 8.5%
To contribute your information to the current Insta-Poll on wages, go to www.ccie.com/survey/poll_results.php?survey_id=98

To view the current results go to www.childcareexchange.com. If you are interested in seeing the results for your state or province, click on your region in the chart. If your state is not listed after you do this, it means that not enough people from your state have participated in the survey for the results to be valid.

I am still interested in current wages and poll information for 2006 & 2007 for The West - CA. Are those available soon?

As for the sarcasm from a previous post, Hope you are enjoying making a difference, even if you are not recognized as often as we would all like - Take care

I am wondering what is the average wage that teachers, and directors and other professionals are making?

I am very impressed to see results so quickly on this poll, that just came out last week! Wow! This is a great way to make us all aware of how slowly the ECE field is being recognized for its professionalism.

Where is family childcare in thsi poll?

Again, the vast majority of professionals who work in early education have been left out!

Why is that, I wonder?
