The mission of the Child ICT Pages (Ch.I.Ps) project is to provide a catalogue of ICT "Best Practices” that will enable children, families, and teachers to access the Information Society. Ch.I.Ps believes that digital literacy for children is a fundamental need in our present and future society. Tools, products, and opportunities for online training are many, but in many cases not easily described and organized in a way that is easy to find and use, by all levels.
The aim of the Ch.I.Ps project is to gather relevant information of "Best Practices" in ICT for 5- to 12-year-old children. These can be products, resources, methodologies, and experiences that have been used to teach children how to use:
Visit the Ch.I.Ps web site for project information and to register for access to the best practices resources. The Child ICT Pages (Ch.I.Ps) - www.chipsproject.org/pages/Homepage.aspx

Thank you for the information. It is good to know that technology is being looked at from an educational perspective and that there is a union between the European Union.
Also, Joel, thank you for the additional background information on the Kindersite Project. It was very helpful! I will definately be checking the Kindersite website.

Thank you for posting this comment about the CHIPs project. I am the partner responsible for dissemination.
Possibly it would interest the readers to know a little about the background to the Kindersite and our involvement in European Union funded educational projects.
Firstly the Kindersite Project is a free online resource that has received registrations from 11,300 schools in 137 countries. It is used by teachers and schools in three ways:
1. Introduction of technology to very young children
2. English as a first and second language
3. Special needs (autism, ADHD etc.)
We have just gained notice (this week) of involvement in a further 6 European Union projects that fall under the Socrates program (see http://ec.europa.eu/education/programmes/socrates/socrates_en.html ). This program (over 2 billion Euros) has been running for over 10 years and has a number of focuses that you can find on the link.
Our role in these projects is 3 fold:
Strategic direction
Dissemination
Web sites and technology
I hope this comment is of interest, and thank you again for the article and for linking the Kindersite (http://www.kindersite.org)
