Global Leaders Project Launched
The World Forum Foundation is excited to launch a special initiative
to support emerging leaders in early childhood education around the world. The
initiative was created by Joan Lombardi, Director of The Children's Project,
in collaboration with the World Forum Foundation, and sponsored
by the IBM Global Work/Life Fund.
Global Leaders for Young Children is a quality improvement initiative
to stimulate advocacy efforts around the world. Global Leaders will
be making a commitment to serve as change agents in their own communities to improve
the quality of services for young children.
In return for their commitment to participate, Global Leaders will
receive support to attend two meetings of the World Forum and access
to an ongoing network of support for their advocacy efforts in their home countries.
In addition, they will have the opportunity to apply for small advocacy project
grants.
The first group of eight emerging leaders from Mexico, China, South Africa, and
Hungary will participate in a two year mentoring/ networking/skill development
project, attending Working Forum Belfast in November 2004 and the
World Forum on Early Care and Education in Montreal in May 2005.
A second cohort of eight emerging leaders from India, Brazil, Poland and
Argentina will start with the 2005 World Forum.
