Occupational Standards
for Practitioners
The Canadian Child Care Federation (CCCF) recently published Occupational
Standards for Child Care Practioners by Gillian Doherty. The publication
identifies standards for caregivers in four areas:
* Caring for children and promoting their development
* Relationships with children's families
* Relationships with others in the child care setting
* Maintaining one's skill and knowledge
In each area the publication outlines standards, required skills and abilities,
and required core knowledge. In addition, the publication includes a
Code of Ethics for child care practitioners adapted by CCCF.
