Exchange Partners Support Troops on Leave

The US child care community, led by the National Association for Child Care Resource and Referral (NACCRRA), is offering National Guard and Reserve personnel returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan for rest and recuperation leave from 4 to 16 hours of free child care.  Participating with NACCRRA in "Operation Child Care" are Exchange Strategic Partners, the National Child Care Association (NCCA) and the National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC).  Additional support is being provided by the National Cooperative Extension Service, The National 4-H Program, and the Federal Child Care Bureau.  As part of this initiative, child care providers Bright Horizons Family Solutions and KinderCare Learning Centers are offering free hours of care to enable service members to attend to family business or to take their spouses out on a date.

"The child care community's response to Operation Child Care has been overwhelmingly positive," reports NACCRRA Executive Director LInda Smith.  "All of us - at the national, state and local levels -- are united in our desire to give back to those risking their lives to keep us safe."
