Universal Principles for Connecting Children with Nature
February 26, 2021
If we surrendered to earth’s intelligence we could rise up rooted, like trees.
-Rainer Maria Rilke

An article in the New York Times called “Nature Deficit Disorder is Really a Thing,” states that “children’s behavior may suffer from lack of access to outdoor space, a problem heightened by the pandemic.” (June 23, 2020)

The newest Exchange Reflections, co-branded with Nature Explore, encourages discussion about a set of universal principles for connecting with nature that were developed as an international collaborative effort through the World Forum Foundation.

Principles are offered for children, educators, families and design professionals, with the goal of helping children develop “life skills through holistic nature-based learning,” and “feelings of unity peace and well-being as global citizens.”
