A Message from Nancy Rosenow, Exchange’s Publisher:
Writing these messages every Monday is good for my soul. Thinking about all of you as I write reminds me how proud I am to be part of the early childhood profession, and what fabulous people early educators are.
When we sent the survey out asking what you needed from Exchange, so many of you replied with thoughtful suggestions and helpful ideas. What touched me the most, though, was that you didn’t just tell us how we could help you; many of you asked how you could help us. You reminded us not to give away too many free resources because you wanted to make sure we’d still be able to take care of our Exchange staff. Wow. Thank you for that.
I don’t know if you are aware that Exchange is part of Dimensions Foundation, which is a non-profit organization. We find our joy in supporting heart-centered educators like you who provide the vital nurturing and inspiration children need. Somehow this crisis has allowed all of us to step away from our “professional shields” a bit so we can simply relate as human beings. I hope that once we’ve all weathered this storm together, we can still keep our shields down. I for one am filled up by this kind of honest connection.
You’ve shared some of your stories with us, and here’s what I’ve noticed: You are brave; you are innovative; and you are determined. Things are really challenging right now, AND early educators are acting in heroic ways to meet the challenge. We see you, we support you, and we are with you.
Here’s a quote for all of us as we start our week: “Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.” Helen Keller
Take care of you,
Nancy
P.S. So many of you responded with gratitude about our experiment with tiered pricing for Holly Elissa Bruno’s new book about dealing with challenges, Happiness is Running Through the Streets to Find You: Translating Trauma’s Harsh Legacy into Healing. We left it up to you to pay what you could: regular cover price, 10 percent off or 30 percent off. We trusted that you would do what you could with the reality you are facing. I’m not sure many professions would have responded as amazingly as you did. Sales were split between all three prices, which means we can now afford to offer this again to others who might need this book. For those of you who can pay cover price, know you’ll be helping your colleagues whose budgets are really tough right now. Thank you. And for those who need discounts, we understand your challenges and are happy to help.
