And Now for Some Positive News
July 16, 2019
When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.
-Rumi

The website positive.news recently published a list of “What Went Right” in the world from January – June, 2019. Here’s a sampling from that list:

  • Global terror attacks fell by a third, and deaths caused by them by a quarter, a study revealed
  • Britain’s carnivorous mammals have bounced back, research showed
  • Scientists made a major breakthrough in preventing Aids
  • A grassroots bee petition forced greener farming measures in Bavaria
  • Global executions fell by 31 per cent in 2018, reaching the lowest figure in at least a decade, it emerged in April
  • An international team discovered how to precisely monitor the progression of Alzheimer’s disease years before obvious signs
  • A giant tortoise believed extinct for 100 years was spotted in Galápagos in February
  • New York will ban single-use plastic bags from retail sales, becoming the second state to do so, it was announced in March
  • The Earth is getting greener and leafier, Nasa announced in February.

And in other good news, Ellen Drolette, in her article, “Sustaining High Staff Morale – It’s An Inside Job,” (which is part of the Exchange Essentials article collection called Motivate Your Staff), reminds administrators that it is quite possible to keep morale high among team members. She provides many ideas, including this most important one: “The number one strategy we can use to lift staff morale in early childhood programs is to communicate that each member of the team is appreciated, respected, and cared about.”
