With all the festivities typically happening at holiday season, and project goals that are often required at year-end, it's not unusual for creativity to be waning. To jump-start your creative thinking in the New Yesr, Mike Brown, author of Idea Magnets, offers these three tips:
“1.Get away from the daily routine.
Turn your routine upside down, or just make a simple adjustment. Grab your laptop and work from a different location. Switch up your tasks so you start the day with different activities. For me, airplane time is my favorite creative getaway because it is completely disconnected from the daily routine.
2. Take advantage of the reset that sleep offers.
Sleep can help boost your creativity tremendously. Early mornings and late evenings (if they come after a refreshing nap) can provide a fresh view and maximum creative output.
3. Immerse yourself in inspiring activities.
I love riding roller coasters to stimulate creativity. (I just don’t get to do it often enough.) Some might enjoy playing sports or attending a live concert. For others, something exciting involves discovering landscapes full of amazing visual stimuli: mountains, oceans, vegetation, extreme conditions, and unique environments. In those natural settings, it’s easy for ideas to start flowing because of the inspiration the scenery provides.”
