The “Journeys in Leadership” column in the March, 2019 Exchange magazine will be full of recommendations from early childhood leaders about their favorite leadership books of the past year. They’ll also share some “just for fun” books they especially enjoyed during 2018. Here’s a teaser of just a few of the responses:
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer was recommended by Kirsten Haugen as a book that ticks the box in both categories - as a leadership book and personal enjoyment read.
Dare to Lead by Brene Brown was Heather Fox’s favorite leadership book this year. She shared a quote from the book she finds especially meaningful: “We must be guardians of a space that allows students to breathe and be curious and explore the world without suffocation.”
Beth Fredericks enjoyed From Teaching to Thinking by Ann Pelo and Margie Carter as a leadership book that encourages the reader to “go deep.”
She recommends Educated by Tara Westover as a great personal read that’s a story of “hope and faith.”
More to come in March...
