In the conclusion to her article, "Positive Body Image for Infants and Toddlers," which serves as the basis for the newest Out of the Box Training Kit by the same name, Sarah Brown observes:
"When a child has a positive body image, she is more likely to feel good about herself and take good care of her body. On the other hand, kids with a negative body image feel more self-conscious, anxious, and isolated. They are at greater risk for a variety of problems. Body image dissatisfaction is likely to lead to unhealthy eating habits, such as restrictive dieting and binge eating. Promoting a positive body image supports the overall health of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers."
