One of the best selling Exchange books, Literacy - A Beginnings Workshop Book, includes 21 insightful articles from leading experts on promoting literacy in early childhood settings. So it is ironic that the headline for the ExchangeEveryDay for October 12, "Illiterate Finish Kindergartners," contained a spelling error (now corrected). We appreciate the many of you who pointed out this error as we appreciate all of your feedback on these stories -- even though it at times may be embarrassing. In honor of this error, I share with you these quotes:
Garrison Keillor: "Young people learned spelling by the 'Close Enough' method.'
M.F. Moozajer: "I gave her a love letter and she returned it back to me by correcting spelling and punctuation."
Mark Twain: "Anyone who can only think of one way to spell a word obviously lacks imagination."
E.A. Bucchianeri: "#Twitter: Proudly promoting ghastly grammar and silly misspelling since 2006."
