An example of a success story from Barhyte's article:
"Little Angels Child Care needs to raise money to purchase classroom computers. They set a goal of $5,000 plus $500 they will need to spend on advertising to get there. That total is their fundraising goal (i.e. desired profit – expenses = fundraising goal). A local corporation matched the $2,500 they raised in raffle tickets, doubling their efforts. They purchased computers with the funds, making their child care program more desirable to area families."
