Global Refugee Crisis
June 16, 2015
Asking teachers to follow scripted curriculum is like asking artists to paint by number.
-John Spencer

A recent New York Times article, "The Global Struggle to Respond to the Worst Refugee Crisis in Generations" made this alarming report:

"Eleven million people were uprooted by violence last year, most propelled by conflict in Syria, Iraq, Ukraine, and Afghanistan. Conflict and extreme poverty have also pushed tens of thousands out of parts of sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia."

At the 2014 World Forum on Early Care and Education, Maysoun Chehab, the World Forum Global Leaders of the Arab Region Coordinator, described the impact of the huge number of refugees fleeing into Lebanon due to the war in Syria.
