Six years ago, two members of the World Forum Foundation's Nature Action Collaborative for Children, Gillian McAuliffe from Western Australia and Bishnu Bhatta from Nepal, joined in conversation to share their hopes and concerns for young children. The collaboration that followed has inspired educators, children, and families across the globe to celebrate International Mud Day together on June 29 each year. [You may remember photos of past Mud Days in Nepal with children jumping off elephants into the mud!]
Recent earthquakes have destroyed schools and deeply impacted the well-being of children in Nepal. On June 29, 2015, the World Forum community will celebrate International Mud Day as an opportunity to support the families and communities in Nepal in their relief and rehabilitation efforts, as well as a global day of nature play.
This year, the World Forum Foundation is encouraging members of the early childhood community world-wide to incorporate fundraising efforts into their Mud Day celebration. The goal is to collectively work together and send these donations to Bishnu’s organization, PSD Nepal, which is providing direct, ongoing relief and rebuilding efforts in Nepal.
