Sharing Feedback with Teachers
February 3, 2015
Where all think alike, no one thinks very much.
-Walter Lippmann

In Inspiring Peak Performance, Paula Jorde Bloom shared tips such as these for sharing feedback that a teacher may perceive as critical:

  • State your feedback respectfully, linking it to the teacher's capacity to grow.
  • Focus on behavior, not the person's attitude.  Let the teacher know how the behavior impacts the children, other staff, or the center's reputation.
  • Be as descriptive and specific as possible, basing your comments on what you have observed, not hearsay from others.
  • Focus on the future and describe what you want, not what you don't want.
