On Wednesday, President Obama signed the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) Act of 2014 into law. The law, which Congress passed with strong bipartisan support, reauthorizes the child care program for the first time since 1996 and represents an historic re-envisioning of the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) program. You can watch video of the signing here.
This historic legislation will have a great impact on our field. In upcoming issues of Exchange, the Early Care and Education Consortium (ECEC) will explore the implications of this act on existing early childhood programs as well as provide an ongoing assessment on implementation of the act.
