This is so true. Children today expect us to pick them up after a conflict or fall, because we don't let them take on consequences. Parents tend to make excuses for their child (and I am so guilty of this too) when they do something wrong, instead of letting them take responsibility. When they get older they can not function as an adult in the work force as well because of this. We are only human and we all make mistakes. Let you child take responsibility for their actions, they will learn from their mistakes and make a responsible adult in the future. Teach them to respect others as well as you the parent.
