I am thrilled with legislative investments on early childhood education. I worry, however, that legislators and governors of states may not understand what constitutes "high quality" early childhood education. We do not need more academic "push-down" into preschool. My hope is that states will communicate with experts in early childhood education and will regard the literature on the value of play.
