- Make a plan and give yourself a firm deadline
- Gather enough information to figure out your choices
- Weight the options using pros and cons or a ranking system

Perhaps this is implied in Step 3, but I would add: Does this decision FEEL right? Otherwise, one can make many logical decisions that ring all sorts of ethical or fairness or "just won't work" alarm bells.
