Toddler Communication
June 24, 2011
Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within.
-James Baldwin, 1924-1987, American writer
It is often assumed that young children do not interact socially until they have started to acquire formal languages, that in their early years they pretty much operate in their own individual worlds.  As early childhood educators, we know this isn't true.  Here is an example of some pretty extraordinary toddler communication between twins.  A great video for staff or parent meetings: Talking Twin Babies

Learning Moments CD - Art as literacy

This Learning Moments CD (for use on a computer) presents real-life video files that are the perfect compliment to workshops, lectures, and online courses on art as literacy. You will observe how children use drawing, painting, singing, and movement to express their understanding of the world and to decipher the drawings and movements of others. You will also see the process children use to make their symbols more "readable" by others.
