A broad coalition of early childhood advocacy groups is urging early childhood professionals to call on Washington about funding TODAY. Here is their message:
Congress is back in Washington today and has limited time to do some important work: ensure that funding is not cut for child care and Head Start before the end of the year.

Then, call Congress!!
As many as to 300,000 children stand to lose child care and Head Start, and we need to create the Early Learning Challenge Fund to encourage states to do even better for young children and families. Congress is considering appropriations bills that could go backwards in spending for child care and Head Start, and would lose the Early Learning Challenge Fund.
Tell Congress to move forward and fund the Child Care and Development Block Grant, Head Start, and the Early Learning Challenge Fund.

Head start was create around 1964 as "war on poverty" by Johnson.
How is it effective when each year more are added to enrollment costing taxpayers 8 billion this year?
If it was effective then wouldn't those "'children of poverty growing up as adults move to self sufficiency and their children are not in need of head start taxpayer funded entitlements?
How about a survey of how many generations of head start children have their children in head start?

I think this is absolutley discusting!! How it the world can the government even threaten these poor children who need the early education before school. I know the government goes pretty low at times, but come on...this is as low as it gets. I am so sick of all the "changes" that have been happening in the US. Nothing has changed for the better in my eyes & it just keeps getting worse. Take this artical for example. So sad.....
