Is Your Job a Bad Fit?
January 6, 2009
Disappointments are to the soul what thunderstorms are to the air.
-Johann C. F. von Schiller
In her article, "Take This Job and Love It" in Psychology Today (November 2008), Judith Sills lists some signals that your current job is just a bad fit...
  1. It embarrasses you to tell people what you do.
  2. You've been at the job for over a year and you still feel like a total fraud — like you are faking it.
  3. You connect with no one — you have made no pleasant social connections in the workplace.
  4. You are overwhelmed with rage or anxiety on a daily basis.
  5. The pay is lousy and you need the money.

People like us - who are working with children are so lucky that we get to see the young growing children day after day- years after years... inspite of whatever...
Visitting nursing home as part of my commitment to myself, each week I see the caregivers- with all of the five bad fit points...I feel sorry for them as they think they have no way out ! And I feel sorry for those old senior citizens..once successfull teachers and officers but now in their eighties or ninties and helpless ...
