WORLD FORUM RECEIVES
TRANSLATION FUNDING
IBM has announced that it will provide funding to the 2003 World Forum
on Early Care and Education to make possible the simultaneous translation
from English to Spanish for all plenaries and principal lectures. This
means that at every time slot during the four day forum there will be one
presentation available in Spanish. The first four World Forums were conducted
in English, with translation into Greek in Athens and informal translating happening
at the others. But with an expected large turn out of delegates from nations
in Latin America it has been a priority of the World Forum organizers to be
welcoming to Spanish-speaking early childhood delegates. Additional funding
is being sought by the World Forum Host Committee in Mexico to provide simultaneous
translation for the remaining 53 World Forum sessions.
