I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.

Next week (April 23 - 29) has been declared Global Action Week by UNESCO. The theme of the week this year will be "Education as a Human Right." This will focus attention on achieving the Education For All Goals that were reaffirmed at the Dakar World Education Forum in 2000 with the view that ... "all children, young people, and adults have the human right to benefit from an education that will meet their basic learning needs ... ensuring that by 2015 all children ... have access to and complete free and compulsory primary education of good quality."
According to the organizers of Global Action Week, the Global Campaign for Education, 80 million children and almost a billion adults still do not receive an education that is their right. With 2007 being the mid-point in the EFA campaign, organizers believe it is imperative that attention be focused on this glaring need for educational attainment.
