It isn't where you came from, it's where you're going that counts.

The
World Forum Foundation is excited that plans are coming together for "Connecting the World's Children with Nature: Working Forum on Nature Education and Young Children, taking place at the Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City, Nebraska, October 16 - 19, 2006. The mission of this Forum is to bring together early childhood educators, representatives of environmental organizations, community planners, and environmental designers to effect changes that make developmentally appropriate nature education a sustaining and enriching part of the daily lives of the world's children. We believe that connecting children with the natural world:
* is crucial for their optimal intellectual and physical development
* provides a sense of refuge and healing in a sometimes violent and frightening world
* nurtures a sense of shared community among the world's peoples.
A long list of international organizations are joining with the
World Forum Foundation for this important event, including Nature Conservancy, International Federation of Landscape Architects, Project Learning Tree, Yucatan Cultural Foundation, Reggio Children, and the National Arbor Day Foundation.
