Program Purpose
In line with the commitment of the present administration to uplift the flight of children, the CWC, DILG and other national government agencies and non-government organizations, the IECCD program is a recent child-focused project in the country.
Program Description
Under the program, local government units are expected to provide adequate health and nutrition programs, establish appropriate facilities such as day care centers and enhance capabilities of service providers such as caregivers including parents to ensure the total development of young children. „The program , as provided for under Republic Act 8980 on the ECCD Act, is designed to ensure proper coordination of projects and activities related to children, particularly for unborn to 6 years old. Concerned local chief executives and official signified their commitment to the goals of ECCD to ensure the total development of young children, from ages 0 to 6 years old in their community. Local government units (LGU ) prioritized and addresses issues and concerns affecting the full realization of the rights of children. A target goal is to institutionalized a child friendly enviroment for the promotion of children‚s right to survival, development, protection and participation. The movement aims to operationalize the Convention on the Rights of Children ( CRC) and involves children, families and communities, subnational and national government, as well as strategic allies from NGO like CONCEP, Inc. and the private sectors and other members of the civil society.
Most Unique Program Feature
The National framework is anchored on holistic development of the child. The ECCD System empowers the family community and institution to maximize participation and support. It shall be effected through the convergence of health, nutrition, early education and psychosocial concepts, goals and processes and approach and service in al programs concerned by the system. Development and Updating of ECCD standards shall be continuously reviewed and upgrade in accordance with existing accreditation process and standard of quality.
