Gordon Early Childhood Centre - Australia
Program
Program Purpose
We are a child care centre offering care for up to 42 children each week day from 7.30 am to 6.00 pm. We have been established under the management of St Mary in the Valley Anglican Church, South Tuggeranong. Which is committed to meeting the needs of the community through providing a quality service that is managed using a cooperative style. Our management committee is made up of members of the parish, parents of children using our centre, the Director and a staff representative. We operate on a not for profit basis.
Program Description
Our philosophy is based on providing care that meets the needs of the individual child, meeting their physical, cognitive, social and emotional needs and creating a safe environment that best enables this to happen. Most importantly we give the child an environment where they can enjoy their early childhood years.
Meeting the needs of individual children in our centre is based on observations made of their development, interest and needs. These observations are transferred to the activities that are provided on the days they attend.
In our Busy Bees Nursery the children are aged from 6 weeks to 2 years. The emphasis in this room is on nurturing and fulfilling the babies' physical and emotional needs while also enhancing their development.
Our Toddler room has children from 2 to 3 years old they provide a program that meets the needs, interests and abilities of each individual child while encouraging group participation and social skills.
Our preschool team is lead by a Preschool Teacher and offers a program covering developmental needs while taking into account curriculum areas and readiness for school.
Australia is a multicultural society so the families using our centre come from a variety of cultural backgrounds. They work together with our staff to provide a friendly atmosphere that promotes the happiness, well-being and intellectual development of the children in our care. Cultural variety is also reflected in our centre staff with aspects of their cultures incorporated into our program through language, music and dance.
Most Unique Program Feature
We are growing with our community, we are open to change and welcoming of all who wish to entrust us with the care and nurturing of their children. By having no particular feature that sets us apart from others means we are open to everyone.
