Making the Most of Spaces that Connect Children with Nature

Learning in natural environments, with natural materials, levels the playing field for all children from all backgrounds.
Diane Gano

Diane Gano, in an article that forms the basis for the newest Exchange Reflections (co-branded with Nature Explore), writes about how important it is to help families understand the benefits of children’s connections with nature:

"It was important to me, as an early childhood educator, that I shared research and documented children’s learning for their parents…We engaged in daily conversations about brain development and how natural materials are full of math and science foundations."

Gano provides a wealth of ideas on how to make the most of learning with nature – in a variety of ways. The Exchange Reflections is one that could support deep thinking on your own, or it can facilitate great conversations with college students or with a staff.
