Exploring Gender Issues

No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship
James Comer

In their book, Leading Anti-Bias Early Childhood Programs, Louise Derman-Sparks, Debbie LeeKeenan, and John Nimmo write:
“Realistically, ECCE practitioners who have been absorbing their families’ and societal assumptions, stereotypes, and prejudices about human identity since childhood cannot be expected to suddenly teach children not to absorb these same beliefs and attitudes. And yet that is exactly what a program leader may expect…Exploring and deepening an individual’s understanding of one’s own and others’ social identities and their influence on perspectives and behaviors are important components of becoming effective anti-bias educators.”

An opportunity to explore issues and new perspectives on gender, as related to early childhood education, is being provided by Early Childhood Investigations. Exchange Press is sponsoring a free webinar that is loosely based on one of our best selling titles, Oh Boy! Presented by Jerry Parr and Ron Blatz, this dynamic webinar is aimed at improving outcomes and creating lifelong success stories for young boys. The webinar will take place on August 7, 2019 at 2-3:30 PM EST. Click here to register: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/1426128553198877442
