"It is hard in child care not to be resolutely focused on the present and confuse what is significant but not particularly important and what is important but often not significant in day to day child care life," says Jim Greenman in "Amidst the Daily Sound and the Fury - What Is Important?" one of the articles in the Exchange Essential, "The Top Ten Exchange Articles."
"Classifying events as significant or important is only a device for trying to develop a perspective on what truly matters. Child care practitioners are jugglers with lots of balls in the air. Some inevitably wobble or fall. As we juggle, it is important to remember which bounce and which are made of glass."
