Time magazine (January 23, 2012) reports that all childbirths are not alike. To generate income, some hospitals are providing "limousine labor." For example, at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles "deluxe maternity suites offer three rooms with hardwood floors, a personal aide 24/7, and other lush hotel-style amenities for $3,800 per day."
Other hospitals agree to totally redecorate rooms and provide an entire team to attend to the mother once she arrives "with massage therapists, special music options, an interior decorator, a chef, a photographer, and especially, a makeup artist."
