Impact of Economy
I am a writer of books in retrospect. I talk in order to understand; I teach in order to learn.
Robert Frost, Poet, 1874-1963
We surveyed readers in the Exchange Insta-Poll in March and July of last year to find out how the economic downturn was impacting programs in your community. Here is what we learned...
- In March 2009, respondents in every region of the U.S. indicated that enrollments in their community had declined moderately (5 on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 indicates no impact and 10 indicates disastrous impact). Respondents in Canada found very little impact (rating of 2) and respondents outside North America noted no impact (rating of 1).
- By July 2009, respondents in four regions (New England, Mid-Atlantic, South, and West), noted no change from March, while those in the Midwest and Southwest noted considerable improvement (with ratings improving to 3). In Canada any impact seems to have gone away, while outside North America the impact was finally being felt (with the rating having declined from 1 to 5).
Now, 16 months later we are interested in an update on how the economy is impacting your programs. Please share your views by voting in today's Exchange Insta-Poll. Then check back from time to time to see what ExchangeEveryDay readers around the world are seeing in their communities.
