The earthquake in Haiti and the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico have placed great strains on families impacted by these disasters. In both of these crises early childhood professionals from around the world have been stepping forward to help in any way they can. Now we have an opportunity to provide continuing support. In October, Nature Action Teams from 30 nations will be coming to the Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska to secure tools and training for launching campaigns to connect 3 million children with nature. Two new teams have just been organized in Haiti and Louisiana.

In Haiti, World Forum National Representative Caroline Hudicourt has organized a Nature Action Team including school owners, landscape designers, and environmentalists who have been actively involved in reforestation and reforestation training initiatives.
In Louisiana, faculty members from the schools of Renewable Resources and Child and Family Studies at University of Louisiana at Lafayette are coming together to create a multidisciplinary service-learning course that will have students working with children and families to assist restoration of the flora and fauna of the coastal regions.
