RESEARCH TO SUPPORT YOUR
FUNDRAISING EFFORTS
When you are attempting to raise money from a company that has never engaged
in charitable giving, research reported in The Nonprofit Board Report
(February 2003) may provide you with some useful ammunition. The study by Wirthlin
Worldwide shows that "good corporate citizenship" -- which includes
charitable giving -- brings tangible business results. Wirthlin surveyed public
and business executives and found that 91% agreed that being a good corporate
citizen may cost the company in the short run, but it'll be paid back later
with a better reputation and more customers. Also, 82% of those polled said
an organization's reputation would have some influence on whether they would
invest in it.
