Controversy about Spanking

If our heart were large enough to love life in all its detail, we would see that every instant is at once a giver and a plunderer.
Gaston Bachelard (1884-1962), French philosopher

The ExchangeEveryDay for October 13 pointed out that in 24 countries, the practice of corporal punishment is banned, but that in the U.S.A. there is not support for such a ban.  In fact the passionate, and diverse, messages in response to this issue of ExchangeEveryDay illustrates this lack of consensus.

We invite readers to share their views on corporal punishment in this week's Exchange Insta-Poll.  In this survey we define corporal punishments as “the use of physical force with the intention of causing a child to experience pain, but not injury, for the purpose of correction or control of the child’s behavior.”
