Child Care Fees Frozen

Four great adventures: read, learn, write and travel.
Lailah Gifty Akita, Ghanaian writer

For the past 6 years Exchange has conducted an annual survey of child care fees in North America. In recent years, fee increases have been slowing. For example, from 2007 to 2008, average weekly fees in the United States increased only 3%, less than half the rate of annual increases the previous two years.

However, from 2008 to 2009 child care fees in the United States basically remained flat — increasing less than one-half of 1%. Fee changes varied considerably by regions, however. Average weekly fees in the mid-Atlantic actually increased by over 10%, while in the Southwest fees decreased by more than 5%.

For a few more days the Exchange Insta Poll on "Child Care Fees in North America" will remain live on the Exchange web site. You can enter your fees to enrich the database, as well as check out the fees for 6-month-olds, 2-year-olds, 4-year-olds, and 6-year olds in your region, in your state, or province.
