Training Needs of Leaders

Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.
Anne Lamott, writer

Two years ago we surveyed ExchangeEveryDay readers about the training needs of leaders in early childhood programs. Staffing challenges headed this list. Here is how you ranked the highest priority training needs of directors:

  1. Re-directing staff without hurting feelings
  2. Staff motivation
  3. Financial management
  4. Recruiting staff
  5. Effective communication
  6. Long-range planning
  7. Legal issues
  8. Organizational management
  9. Parent needs vs. staff needs
  10. Delegation
  11. Staff retention
  12. Accreditation

We are curious how this has changed given the current economic climate. We do know that at least temporarily, the challenge of finding staff has been eased a bit. But what currently are the areas where leaders need support and training?

We invite you to share your insights by participating in today's Exchange Insta Poll on training needs of directors.
