A survey of leading foundations funding educational projects found that nearly two-thirds of these foundations are scaling back their contributions this year due to the hit their assets have taken in the current economy. One major exception is the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation whose donations will increase by 10% in 2009. Here are the current assets of the leading foundations and how much these assets have decreased in the last year as reported in Education Week (March 18, 2009):
