WORLD CONGRESS ON FAMILY
VIOLENCE
The World Congress on Family Violence will take place on June 21 - 26, 2003
at the Prague Congress Center in Prague, Czech Republic. This congress is convened
to advance best practices in protection, prevention and treatment of the physical,
mental, emotional, sexual, social, legal and economic effects caused by family
violence on children and on women and men at every stage of life. In addition
to promoting an exchange on intervention programs, prevention approaches and
research in family violence, the WCFV will also invite discussion by interested
delegates on emerging issues - aging populations, trafficking in women and children,
AIDS as aggression, aging and poverty in the context of social protection, elder
care, institutionalization of children by the family, and women gaining education
and economic opportunity in especially abusive family circumstances.
While the working language at the WCFV is English, simultaneous translation
will be provided in plenary sessions and other selected concurrent sessions
and specialized pre-Congress training venues as financial resources are made
available for this purpose.
