Last evening we celebrated the graduation of 44 individuals from the Mothercraft diploma program in Early Childhood Education. The guest speaker for the evening was Pier Giorgio Di Cicco, Poet Laureate for the City of Toronto, Canada. I heard from several graduates that Mr. Di Cicco’s address spoke to them and to the profession of Early Childhood Educators. I decided to share some of the content with you...

Children learn to believe in the world and have faith in the world through their interactions with caring adults. Developing faith begins prior to the age of six.
It’s important to work with children towards building a sense of community that promotes trust and overcomes fear.
Children who develop faith in the world will have faith in themselves.

Congratulations to those who graduated last evening and to all newcomers to the profession of Early Childhood Education. You have entered into a profession that develops brains ... and hearts.
