How to make a Child Care Expo:
Take a steering committee made up of the diversity of Early Care and Education Professionals across the state, come up with a goal and outcome, for example: The outcome of this expo will be the development of a permanent fund for a Professional Development Scholarship for Early Care and Education Professionals in the state.
Mix well for a few months.
Take 50 local, regional, and national businesses and industries that support child care programs, mix in a variety of associations and organizations that support child care staffs, sprinkle in some dignitaries and state government officials, mix well. Allow all of the above to set up exhibit booths at a college or university who also supports the Early Care and Education Community.
Invite over 1,700 of your closest Early Care and Education Program Staff from family child care programs, after school programs, preschool, Head Start, and the child care community and you have the ingredients for an outstanding Child Care Expo!
To spice up the recipe, add raffles, “give aways” throughout the afternoon and evening, and provide the visiting staffs with complete listings of all of the expo exhibitors. Don’t forget to complement the expo with a sprinkling of press and newspaper reports and a TV station reporter or two!
Bon Appetit!
