What's In This Kit?
"Sensory Exploration in Action" contains a complete professional development program designed to enable early childhood professionals to achieve competencies in gathering documentation and uncovering learning for a wide range of sensory exploration and aesthetic experiences. This kit includes practical and easy-to-implement training ideas such as suggestions for small group and large group activities and discussions, individual reflection activities, strategies for classroom action research, and planning for future application of newly acquired knowledge.
Who's the Target Audience?
The target audiences for this training kit are beginning and intermediate Learners who are
working with children who are at least two years old. This kit is designed to help participants
use mealtime as an ideal opportunity for observation of children’s growth and development.

Kit Timeline:
Preparation time for this kit is estimated at 1.5 hours. Implementation and actual training time is
5.0 hours, which includes 1.5 hours of Face-to-Face Training and 3.5 hours of Independent
Study, and an Applied Activity Project.
Overview:
The purpose of this Out of the Box Training Kit, “Sensory Exploration in Action,” is to help early childhood practitioners develop a deeper understanding of the role of documentation as it informs practice, children’s approach to sensory materials an aesthetic experiences, and the importance of sensory exploration on optimal growth and development of young Learners.
