Children bring their diverse backgrounds and unique experiences with them to every interaction and learning opportunity. When children are welcomed into a learning community— socially, emotionally and intellectually— they embrace new opportunities and comfortably explore new and challenging learning experiences.

A daily mindfulness and yoga practice brings children together, as it builds a community where young children connect and thrive. Through these daily practices children and educators bond and learn to love and respect each other, as well as their learning environment, their bodies, and our earth. Love is the capacity to take care of, to protect, and to nourish the mind, the body and the community (Hanh & Weare, 2017). This article highlights the experiences of a group of young children who, during a summer early learning project, brought their unique cultural backgrounds and diverse perspectives to our yoga practice and together built a strong and vibrant mindfulness experience.
