Early childhood administrators have a lot to think about when it comes to making decisions about the role of technology for children in their programs. As authors, researchers, and frequent presenters on practical issues related to the use of technology tools, we hear real stories that raise important questions. For example:

In a recent workshop, Jean, a preschool teacher said, “My favorite technology to use right now is my cell phone. I can take pictures of what children are doing, then turn right around and show it to them so we can talk about it �" AND I can send it to their parents, too!” Sylvia looked shocked, saying, “If I ever pulled out my cell phone in a classroom I would be fired on the spot!” José seemed puzzled by the conversation. He said, “I thought we were supposed to be talking about technology �" you know �" like whiteboards and computer learning games.”
