Karen D. Love is a very special site located in the Linda Vista area of San Diego, California. We are a Head Start program funded for 162 children; we provide services from 6:00 AM until midnight. The Love Center covers a large block on the corner of Drescher and extends to Tait Street. Our environment provides a warm, welcoming space for a diversity of parents and families who enter our classrooms as it encourages personnel growth. The environment represents the joy and passion of the 100 languages of all the children, parents, and teachers.

I transferred to Karen D. Love almost three years ago. When I first arrived at the center, I was unaware of the large size of the site and staff I was going to be responsible for. As I toured the grounds, in my heart I wanted everything to change quickly, especially the classrooms and the outdoor area. It took time for me to admit to myself that this was going to be a long process, and that what I needed the most was patience and the true faith that it would be different by the time the children and families arrived in September.
