"Good morning" or maybe I should say "Good afternoon." In my country we say "Buenos d¡as" or "Buenas tardes" these two phrases usually are followed by a head bow; what we are doing is a kind introduction to a conversation or maybe a greeting as we walk along. You may think this is something old-fashioned or trivial.

In fact, it is a first step in avoiding damage to a person's self esteem. When you are taught to send a thank you note for a present, to return a phone call or how to answer a phone call, you are being taught that someone will appreciate your attention, your time, and consideration. You learn to show that you care about what that person has done and that you make him feel accepted. You may not agree or even share the same ideas, but you express respect.

The real issue is that what we are doing is taking into consideration the other person. He or she is there; and as we have noticed it, we want to share a couple of words or just a wish for enjoying a good day.
