Over the years I have found immense pleasure in writing about the professional journeys of great friends and colleagues in the early childhood field. Today’s column—my last—will be a little different, as I write about my own journey to retirement at the end of July 2021.
Two years ago, a column I wrote called “The Joy of Letting Go” described how I felt when my colleague Tara Schroder took the lead for our team in putting on the 2019 World Forum on Early Care and Education. I was not able to attend at the last minute due to a sudden health challenge. What started as disappointment turned quickly to admiration for Tara, and excitement at watching her thrive as a leader. Today, that excitement has reached a new level, as I gratefully hand over to Tara my role as publisher of Exchange. You can learn more about Tara on page 55.
