Employees believe that if they commit a significant part of their life to reaching the goals of their employer, the resources of the employer should be used to meet their individual goals.

Summarizing studies from around the country, the Institute for Women's Policy Research in a report entitled High Skill and Low Pay: The Economics of Child Care Work stated that "only one-third to one-half of child care workers have any kind of employer-provided health care coverage . . . [and] retirement pensions and life insurance are received by perhaps one-fourth of child care employees."


Do you remember Car 54 Where Are You? It was a TV comedy several years back about two likable but inept policemen. The theme song describes crises happening all over the Bronx and finally the police dispatcher calls out, "Car 54 where are you?" You would like to believe the heroes can solve the myriad problems described, but you suspect they will only make matters worse.
